N'AWLINS..

 New Orleans 2012
The House on Joliet
found at VRBO.com
It was awesome! It had 4 bedrooms, a pull out sleeper and a "slave courters" (this is what the owners called it) that had a bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette.  CRAZY huh.

I got my coffee with cream in it and I put a tab of sugar in it and of course those yummy beignets.
You can BUY the mix for beignets HERE for $3.11
and the chicory coffee HERE for $6.22

I wish I would have bought a bundle of the stuff while I was there, but you can also order that too!!

I hate OLIVES, so I was too scared to try this Mufflette that my Aunt kept speaking of.
so I tried, a roast beef asiago instead. HOLY DIVINE!!!!!
asiago bread, provolone cheese, roast beef, onion, horse radish and tomato YUM!

My Aunt really wanted to take me to get an ORIGINAL Muffletta at Central Grocery Company
but they were closed on Sundays :(

Below is the recipe for one, after I ordered my meal- I took a bite of the muffletta... DELICIOUS!

  • 1 loaf Mufaletta bread (or Italian bread)
  • 1 cup olive mix
  • 1/4 lb sliced ham
  • 1/4 lb sliced mortadella
  • 1/4 lb sliced Genoa salami
  • 1/4 lb sliced provolone
  • 1/4 lb sliced mozzarella

I got the Ferdi Po Boy  (seen above)
UNREAL. Melt in YO MOUTH!

BOURBON STREET
home of the hand grenade

and from the night of drinking those grenades

so excited about Vandy being in SEC tourney champ game
maybe had too many grenades

Hurricane Ingredients

Don't we look like such tourists....dorky I know, but we were FREEZING!!

We also stopped by at one of those stop & go Daquiri Shops
and got these.... Mango Daquiri

We also visited the LOWER NINE
the area hit the most by Hurricane Katrina
Brad Pitt has gone in and donated a ton of money to help people rebuild their lives.
HERE are some pictures of devastation 6 years later.

newly added...

Some of y'all know that I do some secret shopping around Nashville for a little extra shopping money, well this enabled me to do some shopping before my big FIRST date.  Just in time also for a big wedding coming up and a few fun trips.

I am most definitely an accessories wearer.  I like to put a simple top with a big chunky necklace.  That is just my style.

I have been trying to step OUT of my comfort zone and wear a litle more layered items + a chunk necklace and not be so simple.

Items I have added recently because I noticed they were "IN"

LACE

a black lace dress. I have seen this item everywhere!  In fact, I wore it to a wedding last week and I saw 4-5 girls wearing one.  The good news, they come in all different shapes & fashions.  Mine was similar to this, tight on the body but real loose baggy almost flared arms. from MUSE.

WRAP
I heard these were also going to be BIG, so I bought a taupe colored wrap skirt that has a big bow over the left hip! from MUSE.

Accessories GO TO place...
here are a few pieces I want to add!

i hope you all enjoy a few pieces I think are must haves for your closet.  Just remember, POPS OF COLOR is big this year!! and You can certainly mix and match!!!

Obsession

I am awful and I cannot believe I am admitting this.  I am not sure if this is normal or if I am just not sanitary or clean, BUT I have never actually cleaned out my make up brushes.  I usually just throw them away once they get super dirty.  Thankfully, sephora carries a Daily Make Up Brush Cleaner that is super easy.  I went into Sephora on Saturday after hearing how great this cleaner was, the sales associate told me it is totally okay not to clean DAILY- just make sure it is WEEKLY.  So, like Sundays. I barely put on any make up, so therefore I will clean my brushes that day and they are basically completely dry on Monday morning.

only $6 for the travel size.
I bought the travel size to make SURE I would USE it and it was effective.

Also, second most AMAZING invention EVER

BEAUTY BLENDER!
seriously, most amazing thing ever.

here it is.

You are probably thinking WTHeck is this...An excellent way to apply foundation.
I actually just use to it to put on my tinted moisturizer, since I do not wear foundation.  It totally gives an airbrush application look.  You take the pink ball in your hand and run it under water and then ring all the water out.  Put a small amount of foundation in the palm of your hand and dip the ball into the foundation then apply to your face.  The water helps you use less foundation which will make your make up last longer and it just gives you a even look.

It is a little expensive for $25 but you can make this last a long time since you can clean it!

PS. The Beauty Blender was recommended to me by BIRCHBOX , go over there and JOIN for $10 a month!

SERIOUSLY RECOMMEND these items!

-God Bless Y'all!

What to Wear: Winter Weddings

Nerd Alert: I literally looked online the colors to wear to a winter wedding. Harpers Bazaar showed many images of black dresses, red dresses, white(who knew) with designs of color on it, gold, navy, and a lot of sequin.

Now that I have some guidance... These are the styles/colors I will search for:

with some bold shoes!

with black cardigan for the wedding, and simple black heels.

with nude heels & soft gold jewelry

and the BACK! ahhh

nude heels.

and last....

with soft gold jewelry with a hint or turquoise, then nude heels

All of these are from the awesome site
www.lulus.com

I'm going to search around town in Nashville to see what I can come up with.

Please comment and tell your thoughts on each style.

Stay Sassy little lovers.
